Welcome to Daltonic Help project
Are you color-blind? Let me help you! I offer you a small application for Windows, that helps to recognize colors for those who did not see them. It is very simple: you roll the mouse on the place of interest on the screen and see the name of color. It's really easy!
This should be useful in cases when the part of the important information is encoded in colors, but the developers forgot to take care of people with limited color vision. For example, it may be maps with specific markups, or status icon of your friend in the instant messaging service, or a business document, painted in different colors, and each of them really means something.
While there are someone who use color for the transfer of urgent semantic information, I decided to allow color-blind people themselves to see the necessary color. While I do not know how this idea is successful, but I hope it will help sometimes.
Yes, I know that color-blind do not like to advertise their disease, so most of the time my program is able to quietly hang in background memory, without giving any outward signs of life. So you can access it only when it need, with using some "hot key", and then turn it off again.
What else can program do?
First of all, it can determine the color name on the predetermined palette.
Secondly, do it smart, with separating the main color of the background and considering multiple points on the screen.
Thirdly, it can be customized for specific tasks. (Available in full version only)
See detailed description in «Manuals».
How to get the program?
Currently available Lite version of the application, which is distributed under "ThanksWare" license, i.e. You should always thank me for writing it or leave any feedback by filling out the form on the site (for details, see «Licenses»). This version is available for download on the site.
You can also purchase a full, more functional version, paying it on a site in the «Buy» page.
What else?
You can also donate any amount to the development of the project. It will aim to cover the cost of hosting and production of improved versions and versions for other platforms, if any, will be in demand.
I also appeal to people with normal vision, and especially for specialist doctors with a request to the maximum test, though, the Lite version and give recommendations for improvement and adjustment under certain types of color blindness, if necessary.
